Dr. Ivo Gergov, MD, PhD – Head of the Diagnostic Imaging Department at the University Specialized Hospital for Oncology “Prof. Ivan Chernozemski”, Sofia.
He graduated from Medical University – Sofia in 1993. Since 1996, he has specialized in Diagnostic Imaging at the Diagnostic Imaging Department of the University Specialized Hospital for Active Treatment in Oncology. He acquired his specialty in Diagnostic Imaging in 2001. Since 2014, he has been Head of the Diagnostic Imaging Department at the University Specialized Hospital for Active Treatment in Oncology.
In 2016, he defended a doctoral dissertation entitled “The Role of Mammography and Ultrasound Examination in the Primary Diagnosis of Breast Cancer” and received a Doctor of Medicine degree in the scientific specialty of Oncology.
Qualifications
• Breast imaging: mammography, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging;
• Interventional procedures: fine-needle biopsy of breast lesions; core needle biopsy of breast lesions;
• Computed tomography of the brain, facial skull, neck, thorax, abdomen and pelvis;
• Ultrasound diagnostics of the abdomen, pelvic organs and superficial structures;
• Magnetic resonance imaging.
Specialized training abroad
• Individual training – Ultrasound and thermoablation at a University Hospital in Strasbourg;
• Individual training – Ultrasound and elastography at a University Hospital in Rome;
• Specialized course – Screening mammography at the Nijmegen Screening Centre, the Netherlands;
